5 on 5 Half-Court Basketball

Unit Objectives:

The student will:

  1. Participate in Over, Under and Around, and Vanishing Bean Bags activities demonstrating cooperation and agility.
  2. Execute scarf juggling skills juggling 2 or 3 scarves using skills demonstrated in class.
  3. Demonstrate cooperation developing partner stunts during the Introductory Activity.
  4. Demonstrate agility and cooperation during the Pentabridge Hustle.
  5. Play Hoarders demonstrating dodging and sprinting skills.
  6. Participate in Blob Tag demonstrating cooperation with classmates, dodging, and starting and stopping skills.
  7. Participate in partner mirroring activities demonstrating cooperation and creativity.
  8. Improve her cardiovascular and physical fitness levels during the Continuity Exercise fitness activities.
  9. Execute a variety of fitness exercises and aerobic movements during the Rhythmic Parachute Activities.
  10. Improve their fitness levels while participating in the Fitness Scavenger Hunt activities as demonstrated by the instructor.
  11. Complete the Fitness Challenge Course to improve all levels of fitness.
  12. Jump rope to improve cardiovascular endurance.
  13. Participate in Circuit Training to improve his overall fitness.
  14. Participate in dribbling and passing drills using skills demonstrated by the instructor.
  15. Execute defensive dribbling activities.
  16. Demonstrate defensive footwork using techniques demonstrated by the instructor.
  17. Perform the following footwork: jump stop pivot, v-cuts, inside turns, defensive slide with head up and good balance.
  18. Perform the Chest pass and the Overhead pass with accuracy and follow through.
  19. Demonstrate lay-up shots from the center and each side of the basket five times.
  20. Perform five jump shots fifteen feet from the center and the sides of the court.
  21. Demonstrate offensive basketball skills using form demonstrated in class by her instructor.
  22. Perform dribbling skills during the Dribble Relay game.
  23. Demonstrate an understanding of Basketball rules strategy while playing Lane Basketball in class.
  24. Participate in the Round Robin Tournament executing cooperation, teamwork, and basketball skills.
  25. Execute basketball skills of dribbling, shooting, passing, offense and defense as demonstrated throughout the unit during the skill testing. 
  26. Complete a written exam scoring 70 % or better.
