Week #2: Flag Football Lesson Plan 10 - Friday

EQUIPMENT:

  • 1 Football per team
  • 1 Flag set per student

OUTCOMES:

The student will:

  1. Participate in the Marking Introductory Activity demonstrating agility, speed, coordination, and cooperation following the instructions established by the instructor.
  2. Design and complete a personal workout including selected music.
  3. Participate in the Flag Football Tournament demonstrating agility, cooperative skills, knowledge of rules and football skills learned in this unit demonstrating form presented by the instructor.

NATIONAL STANDARDS: 1-4

Marking

INSTRUCTIONS:

Students find a partner. Under control, one partner runs, dodges, and tries to lose the other, who must stay within 3 feet of the runner. On signal, both stop and freeze. Chasers must be able to touch their partners to say that they have marked them. Partners then change roles.

TEACHING HINTS:

Allow a point to be scored only when they touch a specified body part (i.e., knee, elbow, left hand).

Clarify it is not a tag game but rather shadowing your partner. Allow one giant step in any direction to see if they can “mark” their partner.

Student Choice

INSTRUCTIONS:

Allow students to select a workout that has been previously learned. Put emphasis on self-direction and a balanced routine.

TEACHING HINTS:

Motivate students with music

Student choice is an opportunity to allow students to select music they want to use for their workout. They can listen to it on headphones while exercising.
