Direct students to work as a team to “hunt” for the exercise space/area.
Assign each group a different starting point.
Give each group a “Fitness Hunt” Card.

Demonstrate forehand grips and position for hitting.
Practice: Handout Task Sheet 1 (below) and discuss expectations.
TEACHING HINTS:
Direct each student to pick up a racket, ball, and eye guards and bring them to the demonstration court.
Explain the parts of the racket and how it is to be held when not striking the ball.
Demonstrate the ready position.
Demonstrate the movement pattern from ready position to forehand position.
Demonstrate the back swing, forehand stroke and follow through. Without a ball.
Direct four students to go to each court. Equipment is arranged around the perimeter of each court.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Divide the class into two or more groups. Each group makes a tight circle with arms pointing toward the middle. In each group, students hold someone’s hand until everybody is holding hands. Each person must hold a hand of two different people and not hold the hands of the people on either side. On signal, the two groups race to see which group can untangle first without disjoining hands. The group may end up in either one large circle or two smaller, connecting circles. People can be facing different directions when finished.
