INSTRUCTIONS:
Students move around the area to the beat of a tambourine. The step is a trot with the knees lifted. Emphasize proper spacing and moving rhythmically. Stop on a double beat of the tambourine. Try some of the following variations:
TEACHING HINTS:
Have the leader move in different shapes and designs. Have class freeze and see if they can identify the shape or formation.
At times, stop the drumbeat and have the class continue running. Challenge them to maintain the rhythm with their feet. Avoid the tendency to speed the rhythm.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Design a course using the following components:
• Agility run through hoops
• Log rolls
• Run and weave through a coned course
• Leap over a taut rope
• Cross a horizontal ladder (or hang for 5-10 seconds)
• Power jump onto and off of three jumping boxes
• Walk the length of a balance beam
• Run high knees for 50 yards
• Curl-ups
• Crab Walks from one cone to another
• Stretching exercises
TEACHING HINTS:
Divide class into groups of 4 – 5. Assign each group a starting point on the Challenge Course. Use music to motivate.
Course should be created to exercise all parts of the body
Allow students to run the Challenge Course 3 times
Allow students to develop new challenges for the course
Music can be used for fun and to motivate students
Students will travel the course at their own pace. Have a passing lane to the right.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Routine can be done in 2’s or solo.
TEACHING HINTS:
Play music that can be used for the routine.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Discuss creative presentations due the next day.
Students create cheer.
