INSTRUCTIONS:
Students move through teaching area performing a variety of locomotor movements. Freeze on signal and assume balancing poses using various body parts. Challenge students to hold the balance for 10 seconds.
TEACHING HINTS:
Scattered formation.
The leader can call out body parts to use or the number of parts that must touch the floor.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Jog around the Gym.
2. Crab walk forward and backward between cones.
3. Jog and shake hands with 8 different people.
4. Carioca (grapevine) step around a court going each direction.
5. Jog backwards around the Gym and “high 5” 4 other people.
6. Perform a mirroring activity with your partner.
7. Execute maximum number of curl-ups/push-ups.
8. Perform the coffee grinder on each side.
9. Execute maximum reverse push-ups.
10. Jump rope at a Hot Peppers rate.
TEACHING HINTS:
Use management game to create partners.
Direct each partner set to pick a card from the “Cookie
Jar.”
Create music intervals with 35 seconds of music for activity followed by a 10 second silence for picking a new card and changing activities.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Dribbling for speed
The student will run and dribble ball between 2 cones 10 times. Both partners can practice at once with adequate spacing.
Kicking and Trapping
Use the inside of your foot and pass the ball to your partner standing 10’ away from you. Partner returns ball to you. Repeat 5 times. Gradually add distance.
Combination Dribbling and Kicking Drill
Student dribbles toward partner 1/2 distance between the cones set up, then passes to partner who must trap the ball and begin the drill himself. Alternate turns.
TEACHING HINTS:
Set cones up 20 feet apart.
Using a management technique, create partners.
1 ball per person
Find a new partner on signal from the instructor.
Set up cones for dribbling drill.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Two parallel lines 20 feet apart. 3 people in center between the lines form a chain. The players on the end can tag people. On signal the center says “come” and the 2 lines run across, if tagged they join the chain.
TEACHING HINTS:
Select 3 to be in center
If the chain gets too long, freeze and break it into 2-3 smaller chains.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Talk about skills practiced today. Ask if there were any areas needing clarification.
