INSTRUCTIONS:
Students use a locomotor movement (run, skip, slide, gallop) to move around. When whistle is blown, students run to a partner and jump in air and give each other a “high five” and then continue moving until whistle is blown again.
TEACHING HINTS:
Scattered formation in area marked off by cones.
Alternate locomotor movements.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Jump Rope
Students perform different styles of jump roping as instructed by teacher.
Forward in place and while traveling; Backward in place and traveling; Alternating feet/ leg swings;
Hot peppers
Stretching Exercises
Stretch entire body, particularly leg muscles worked.
Strengthening Exercises
Focus on upper body development exercises
TEACHING HINTS:
Scattered formation.
Create a routine to music.
Encourage students to use stretches they have learned previously.
If students are having difficulty finding exercises, assign peers to lead.
Forehand Clear Shot and Serve Practice
Explain Reciprocal Task Sheet for Badminton Skills. The sheet follows this page and can be printed for student use.
Serve: The stroke used to put the shuttlecock into play at the start of each rally; also called a “service”.
Practice clear and serve.
Use Whistle Mixer to create groups of 3.
Identify a Doer, Tosser, and Observer in each group.
Assign students to courts.
Use task sheets.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1 student plays against 3 students with joined hands. Lone student tags a designated student in circle. The other 2 students maneuver to keep tagger away from designated student.
TEACHING HINTS:
Use Whistle Mixer to create groups of 4.
Rotate roles as players are tagged.
Circle may move in any direction but must not release hands.
Review main elements of shots practiced today. When is the Serve used?
Cheer: 2, 4, 6, 8. The weekends are really great!
