Week #2: Soccer Lesson Plan 6 - Monday

EQUIPMENT:

  • 2 cones per 3 students
  • Music for Parachute Fitness
  • 1 soccer ball per 3 students
  • Parachute
  • 1 task sheet per student
  • Marking Spots for Stepping-Stone Relay
  • 1 pencil and clipboard per 3 students

OUTCOMES: 

The student will:

  1. Participate in the Zipper cooperating with classmates and following the safety and game instructions.
  2. Participate in Parachute Fitness Activities involving locomotor, strength, and flexibility activities.
  3. Be able to perform passing and trapping skills using task sheets in a group of 3.
  4. Demonstrate the ability to compete in the Stepping-Stone relay while cooperating with teammates.

NATIONAL STANDARDS: 1 – 5

Zipper

INSTRUCTIONS:

Each student bends over, reaches between the legs with the left hand, and grasps the right hand of the person to the rear. This continues down the line until all hands are grasped. On signal, the last person in line lies down, the next person backs over the last person and lies down, and so forth until the last person lies down, and then immediately stands and reverses the procedure. The first team to zip and unzip the zipper is declared the winner.

TEACHING HINTS:

Divide class into lines of 7-9.

Players make a single-file line.

Space lines out in area.

Parachute Fitness Activities

INSTRUCTIONS:

16 Runs clockwise

16 Runs counterclockwise

16 Jumps to center

16 Jumps back

8 count lift overhead

8 count lower to toes

4 count lift

4 count lower

 

Repeat all, but increase difficulty by holding chute overhead on CW run

Release on last lift.

 

After the aerobic movements above have been learned, stop the music, and insert the exercises below.

  1. Toe Touches: Lift chute taut to chin. Bend forward and touch grip to toes. Hold taut to chin.
  2. Curl Ups: Curl-up, bend knees, lie back, extend legs. Repeat 16 times. Hold Parachute sitting position in a circle. Curl up, bent knees. Extended legs under chute and lie on back.
  3. Dorsal Lifts: Prone position with head toward chute with arms straight and the chest taut. Lift arms and chest and hold for 4 counts.
  4. Sitting Leg Lift: Sit with legs under chute; on signal lift a leg off ground for 6 to 10 seconds. Try to keep leg straight. Alternate legs. Try a variation: Side leg lefts. Lie on side. Lift top leg and lower.

“Lift overhead!” (8 Counts.)

“Lower to toes”

“Hold overhead and run left!” (32 Counts.)

Each group will be at a cone with another cone 10 ft. away.

TEACHING HINTS:

Using Whistle Mixer, make groups of 3.
Direct students to take 1 clipboard, pencil and 1 Task Sheet per person to assigned areas.

Stepping-Stone Relay

INSTRUCTIONS:

Two marking spots are used per squad. The first person in line is the mover and helps the next person in line move down and back. The only way to advance in this relay is by standing on a carpet square and moving to another. Moving or standing on the floor is illegal. The mover picks up the rear carpet square and moves it in front of the advancing player so that the next step can be taken. All players must play both roles before the relay is completed.
